George was elected June 2018 as a Kuukpik Board of Director.
Joe Nukapigak, President
Joe Nukapigak is currently involved with Kuukpik management as the Corporate President of the Parent Board of Directors. Joe serves on the Finance and Design Committees. He’s involved with the Kuukpik Subsistence Oversight Panel as a subsistence representative for Kuukpik. Joe is active in the traditional harvest of the bowhead whale, as well as other traditional harvests that are critical to the Inupiat way of life.
Richard Reich, Vice President
Richard Reich is the son of Emily (Ipalook) Wilson. He has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Anchorage. He is a State of Alaska Registered Civil Engineer. He is currently the General Manager for Eskimos Inc. Richard has served as a director of Kuukpik Corporation since 2020.
Leonard Lampe Sr., Secretary
Leonard Lampe Sr. has served on the corporation as a board member since 1990. Leonard is currently involved with Kuukpik as an Executive Special Assistant, Corporate Secretary. Leonard serves on the Finance, Design, Heir-Ship, and After-born Committes and he is the Kuukpikmiut Foundation President.
Isaac Nukapigak, Treasurer
Isaac Nukapigak has served on the Parent Board of Directors since 1989 to 2016. Isaac is a Finance and Afterborn Committee member. Isaac assisted in the establishment of Kuukpikmiut Foundation, Kuukpik Transportation, Nuiqsut Utility Co-Op and Nanuq, Inc. Isaac also serves the community as a whaling captain and served on the board of the Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission for over a decade.
Gordon Brown II
Gordon Brown II has served the corporation as a Parent Board of Director since 1999. Gordon currently is involved in the Nanuq, Inc., as a board member, Parent Board of Directors and a Finance Committee Member.
Eli Nukapigak is the son of Edward and Ruth Nukapigak. Eli resides in Nuiqsut. He went attended Chemawa Indian School in Oregon. He worked for NANUQ on Ice Road Projects. Eli was a Whaling Commissioner Member for 7 years. He also served on the North Slope Borough (NSB) Planning Commission and NSB Wildlife.
Dora Leavitt is the daughter of the late Ruth & Edward Nukapigak. She was elected as a director of Kuukpik Corporation in 2021. She graduated from Nuiqsut Trapper School in 1983, after which she attended the American Indian College (AIC) in Phoenix, Arizona for two years. She received her certificate as a Heavy Equipment Operator from Ilisagvik College in 1995. She has served as an Advisor to the North Slope Borough (NSB) Mayor and has previously worked for Kuukpik Corporation as the HR Manager, and as a Seasonal Subsistence Representative. She currently serves on the Kuukpik Heirship Committee and on the Board of Trustees for Ilisagvik College. Additionally, Dora is a whaling captain’s wife.
Class B Directors
Jerry Brower was elected as a B Director to the Kuukpik Corporation Board of Directors in 2021. He is employed as a Bookkeeper with Kuukpik Corporation. Jerry previously attended Stanford University and is currently enrolled at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Roxanna Oyagak is the daughter of the Joy & the late Roxy Oyagak, Jr. She was elected as a B Director to the Kuukpik Corporation Board of Directors in 2021. She has worked for UIC in multiple roles since 2008 and has also worked for the North Slope Borough. Roxanna has obtained certificates for completion of Business Specialist training, Finance Workshop and CAD Drafting from Ilisagvik College.
